El Mandatario expuso la necesidad de la discusión política y ética en torno a los desafíos relacionados con las ciencia y nuestra sociedad. Además, llamó a integrar todas las voces posibles en el debate y no a que “prime la voluntad del más rico”.

“What kind of humanity do we want to be?” is the question posed by the 14th edition of the Congreso Futuro, which will feature more than 100 national and international exhibitors. In the vicinity of the former National Congress, led by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, the country’s authorities kicked off the 2025 version of the event.

Thinking and reflecting on the future of humanity was the message most repeated by the authorities in their speeches. In this sense, President Boric valued how Congreso Futuro allows to generate a scientific and political debate: “Here there is a fundamental political and ethical discussion”.

“This particular edition invites us to reflect on the relationship between current technological progress and the humanity we want to be. It is important that we ask ourselves what kind of humanity we want to be”, said the President in his speech.

The Head of State advocated for the “diversity of views” to be discussed at Congreso Futuro. “The solution to multidimensional problems, such as the climate crisis, inequality, insecurity, the weakening of democracy. This can only be solved by integrating several points of view. And let us not enter into a law where the will of the strongest or the richest takes precedence,” he emphasized.

“I believe that one of the things of which I am proud of Chile is that in our country there is hope and expectations of what science and academia in general can deliver,” Boric added.

For his part, the vice-president of the Encounters of the Future Foundation, Guido Girardi, referred to the challenges facing humanity with technological progress. “We are facing new addictions that make us hostages”, he said about how people have adopted new technologies in their daily lives.

“In this marvelous era, in this luminous era, how can we recover these technologies for the good of humanity, for democracy, for equality”, continued Girardi, remarking that ‘these technologies can displace half of the human beings on the planet from their work’.

In his presentation, he even gave way to contingency discussions in our country, such as the pension reform, to exemplify how the future may not be the one that is envisioned. “We are proposing a pension model that puts 6 additional points to the employer. But beware, there will quickly be far fewer employers. Because the productivity factor is no longer human, it is artificial intelligence”, he mentioned.

“Are we going to be able to compete with machines? Hardly, because we have a cranial vault that limits us and artificial intelligence grows infinitely. These are ethical challenges and political challenges,” Girardi closed.

The 14th edition of the Congreso Futuro was inaugurated with an exhibition at the Congreso Nacional itself by Baroness Beeban Kidron on public policies to safeguard the safety of children in the digital world, and later moved to the CEINA Cultural Center for a welcome show that brought Violeta Parra to life through artificial intelligence to sing with her granddaughter Javiera Parra.

“¿Qué humanidad queremos ser?” es la interrogante que plantea la edición número 14 del Congreso Futuro y que contará con más de 100 expositores nacionales e internacionales. En las inmediaciones del ex-Congreso Nacional, encabezadas por el Presidente de la República, Gabriel Boric, las autoridades del país dieron inicio a la versión 2025 del evento.

Pensar y reflexionar sobre el futuro de la humanidad fue el mensaje que más repitieron las autoridades presenten en sus discursos. En ese sentido, el Presidente Boric valoró cómo el Congreso Futuro permite generar un debate científico y político: “Acá hay una discusión política y ética de fondo”.

“Esta edición en particular nos invita a reflexionar sobre la relación entre el avance tecnológico actual y la humanidad que queremos ser. Es importante que nos preguntemos qué humanidad queremos ser”, planteó el Mandatario en su alocución.

El Jefe de Estado abogó por la “diversidad de miradas” que se encuentran en el Congreso Futuro para debatir. “La solución a problemas multidimensionales, como la crisis climática, la desigualdad, la inseguridad, el debilitamiento de la democracia. Esto solo se puede resolver integrando varias miradas. Y no entremos en una ley donde prima la voluntad del más fuerte o el más rico”, enfatizó.

“Creo que una de las cosas de las cuáles estoy orgulloso de Chile es que en nuestro país hay esperanza y expectativas de qué puede entregar la ciencia y la academia en general”, complementó Boric.

Por su lado, el vicepresidente de la Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, Guido Girardi, se refirió a los desafíos de la humanidad con el avance tecnológico. “Estamos enfrentando nuevas adicciones que nos hacen rehenes”, sostuvo sobre como las personas han adoptado las nuevas tecnologías en su día a día.

“En esta era maravillosa, en esta era luminosa, cómo hacemos para recuperar estas tecnologías para el bien de la humanidad, para la democracia, para la igualdad”, prosiguió Girardi, remarcando que “estas tecnologías pueden desplazar a la mitad de los humanos del planeta de su trabajo”.

Incluso, en su exposición, dio paso a discusiones de la contingencia en nuestro país como la reforma previsional, para ejemplificar cómo el futuro puede no ser el que se visualiza. “Estamos planteando un modelo de pensiones que pone 6 puntos adicionales al empleador. Pero cuidado, rápidamente van a haber mucho menos empleadores. Porque el factor de productividad ya no es humano, es inteligencia artificial”, mencionó.

“¿Vamos a poder competir con las máquinas? Difícilmente, porque nosotros tenemos una bóveda craneana que nos limita y la inteligencia artificial crece de manera infinita. Son desafíos éticos y desafíos políticos”, cerró Girardi.

La edición 14 del Congreso Futuro fue inaugurada con una exposición en el propio Congreso Nacional de la Baronesa Beeban Kidron sobre políticas públicas para resguardar la seguridad de niños y niñas en el mundo digital, y posteriormente se trasladó hasta el Centro Cultural CEINA para un show de bienvenida que trajo a Violeta Parra a la vida a través de inteligencia artificial para cantar junto a su nieta Javiera Parra.
